拆開鄰居的信件偷看，這樣做是違法嗎？

根據澳門《刑法典》第188條“侵犯函件或電訊”罪第1款的規定，任何人未經同意，開拆自己非為收件人的密封包裹、信件或任何文書，或以技術方法知悉其內容（比如利用光學或電子科學設備），又或以任何方式阻止收件人接收上述物品者，處最高1年徒刑，或科最高240日罰金。因此，如果明知那些密封信件不是寄給自己的，卻拆開偷看內容，其行為已構成侵犯函件罪。

Is it against the law to open and peek at neighbour’s letters?

According to the offence of “Violation of correspondence and telecommunications” as stipulated in Section 1 of Article 188 of the Macao Penal Code, anyone opens a sealed parcel, letter or any document not addressing to him as the recipient, or learns the content of it with technical method (for example using optical or electronic science equipment) without others’ consent, or prevents the recipient from receiving the abovementioned items in any way, shall be liable to imprisonment of up to 1 year or a fine of up to 240 days.  Therefore, if those sealed letters are knowingly not sent to oneself and one still opens them and peeks at the content, such act has already constituted the offence of violation of correspondence.

É ilegal abrir as cartas dos vizinhos e lê-las às escondidas?

Conforme o disposto no número 1 do artigo 188.o do Código Penal de Macau sobre o crime de violação de correspondência ou de telecomunicações, quem, sem consentimento, abrir encomenda, carta ou qualquer outro escrito que se encontre fechado e lhe não seja dirigido, ou tomar conhecimento, por processos técnicos (por exemplo, usando equipamentos ópticos ou electrónicos), do seu conteúdo, ou impedir, por qualquer modo, que seja recebido pelo destinatário, é punido com pena de prisão até 1 ano ou com pena de multa até 240 dias. Por isso, se conscientemente souber que as cartas fechadas não lhe são dirigidas, e mesmo assim, as abre e lê o seu conteúdo, às escondidas, o acto já constituiu o crime de violação de correspondência.
