父母因短暫離家而將未成年子女獨自留在家中，因而令子女身體完整性受到傷害或嚴重傷害，父母便觸犯了《刑法典》的第142條的“過失傷害身體完整性罪”，可按子女受傷害的程度處以最高2年或3年徒刑或科罰金。如果子女因此不幸死亡，父母則觸犯同一法典第134條的“過失殺人罪”，可被處最高3年徒刑；如屬嚴重過失，則可處以最高5年徒刑。 因此，家長切勿獨留孩子在家，這樣不但可能觸犯刑法，而且可能發生意外，後悔莫及。

Parents, who temporarily left their underage children unattended at home, causing harm or serious harm to their bodily integrity, have breached Article 142 of the Macao Penal Code, “offence of negligent assault causing harm to bodily integrity”. The parents are liable to a term of imprisonment of up to 2 to 3 years, or a fine, subject to the level of harm caused to the children. Os pais, que durante uma ausência temporária, deixam os filhos sozinhos em casa, e isso provocar ofensa ou ofensa grave à integridade física dos menores, cometem o crime previsto no artigo 142.º do Código Penal “Ofensa à integridade física por negligência”, dependendo da gravidade da ofensa são punidos com pena de prisão de 2 a 3 anos ou com pena de multa. Se a razão referida causar a morte dos filhos, os pais infringem o artigo 134.º “Homicídio por negligência”, e são punidos com pena de prisão até 3 anos. No caso de negligência grosseira, são punidos com pena de prisão até 5 anos. Por isso, os encarregados de educação não devem abandonar os filhos sozinhos em casa, podem violar a lei, bem como podem ocorrer acidente, evitem fazê-lo para não se arrepender.
