製造偽鈔屬嚴重犯罪，為保障本澳的金融秩序，以及偵查偽鈔背後的犯罪行為（例如偽鈔的製造和輸入途徑等），本澳法律規定銀行發現偽鈔時，有義務將之扣押並交予司法警察局。因此，銀行一旦發現市民交來的款項中存有偽鈔，必須根據法定義務將之扣押，故此，市民應當與銀行和警方合作，使警方能掌握偽鈔來源，以便儘快開展偵查工作。

Manufacturing counterfeit banknote is a serious crime. In order to safeguard the financial order of Macao, as well as to investigate the criminal acts behind the counterfeit banknotes (such as the manufacture of counterfeit banknotes and the means of import), the Law of Macao has stipulated that banks are obliged to seize the counterfeit banknotes and hand them over to the Judiciary Police upon detection. Therefore, once a bank discovers a counterfeit banknote among the money brought in by the resident, the bank must seize it as per its statutory obligation. As such, the residents should cooperate with the bank and the Police, enabling the police to ascertain the origin of the counterfeit banknotes so that investigation can be launched as soon as possible.

Fabricar notas falsas é crime grave, para garantir a ordem financeira de Macau bem como investigar esse tipo de crime, tais como o meio de fabrico ou o de importação de notas falsas, a lei local consagra aos bancos, quando descobrirem notas falsas, o dever de apreensão e de entrega à PJ. Assim, uma vez que o banco descubra a existência de notas falsas no meio do dinheiro que uma pessoa entrega, tem o dever de apreensão, pelo que, a população deve colaborar com o banco e a polícia, de modo a que se descobra a origem daquelas notas, numa investigação própria.
