Anti-crime patrol operation – 8 female prostitutes intercepted
The Judiciary Police received a recent report, suspecting that there were female prostitutes in a hotel in the Cotai district. The Organized Crime Division immediately dispatched personnel for follow-up investigation and developed a combat operation jointly with the Security Department of the hotel via the “Notification and communication mechanism with the hotel industry”. Between the night of January 15th and wee hours of 16th January 2024, 10 criminal investigation personnel were dispatched to conduct anti-crime patrol in the Cotai district and its peripheral area.
During the operation, a total of 8 mainland women suspected of prostitution were intercepted with items used for prostitution found in their carry-on belongings and their luggage. All of them admitted to coming to Macao for prostitution, charging HKD 1,500 to 2,500 for each deal.
Personnel of the Judiciary Police brought the 8 individuals back to the Judiciary Police. Upon completion of the identity verification and investigation procedures, no involvement of other criminal offences was found. However, in view of their engagement in activities apparently inconsistent with the permitted purpose of stay in Macao, they were transferred to the Border Control Department of the Public Security Police Force for handling in accordance with the stipulations of Law No. 16/2021.
