Two Indonesian women arrested for criminal syndicate crimes and inappropriate detention of identification documents

On 28th July 2026, the Organised Crime Division of the Judiciary Police launched investigation into a complaint which alleged that some foreigners were engaging in usury while detaining borrowers’ identification documents.  Later, on September 4th, a victim was transferred to the Judiciary Police by the Public Security Police Force, who was unable to return to her home country due to the detention of her passport following a loan.  Subsequent to investigation, the Judiciary Police officers discovered that the mastermind of the case had already fled Macao due to her involvement in similar cases, yet continuing to organise and manipulate multiple accomplices in Macao, via phone, to conduct the aforementioned criminal activities against compatriots.

On September 29th, the Judiciary Police officers captured the two involved Indonesian women in Central district.  Investigation revealed that since early 2026, the duo had been assisting the mastermind, who was abroad, to grant loans and obtain interests from various victims while detaining their passports.  Each time they were rewarded MOP50 to MOP100.

Based on investigative results, the Judiciary Police transferred the two involved women to the Public Prosecutions Office with the charges of criminal syndicate crimes and inappropriate detention of identification documents, while continuing to conduct in-depth investigation into the case.

A PJ continua a investigar o caso.
