Hong Kong man arrested for fraud of considerably huge amount
On 13th December 2022, the Judiciary Police received a report from a mainland man, stating that he had been defrauded of RMB 320,000 by a Hong Kong man on the pretexts of reselling concert tickets and opening up a company.
Case details revealed that on 2nd November 2022, the male victim got acquainted with the involved man, who claimed to be a “Dubai prince” engaging in businesses including jewellery and engineering, in a hotel restaurant. The man claimed that he had connections to buy concert tickets redeemed by casino points at a discounted price and to resell them to earn a profit. The unsuspecting victim thus paid RMB 16,190 successively via a mobile electronic payment platform to order 28 tickets, then was instigated to hand and transfer a total of RMB 300,000 as the capital of jointly opening up a company in Hong Kong with the involved man. After that, the victim had never received the aforementioned concert tickets and was stalled on the pretext of handling the procedures of opening the company by the involved man, who eventually went out of contact, thus suspected being defrauded and reported the case to the police.

He denied committing the crime and refused to reveal the case details. The Judiciary Police transferred him to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of fraud (considerably huge amount).
