Homicide case swiftly cracked with a Hong Kong man arrested
On the morning of 12th March 2023, the Judiciary Police received a notification from the Fire Services Bureau, indicating that a woman’s body was found lying in a room of a guesthouse in the Central District.
The personnel of the Judiciary Police rushed to the scene after receiving the report, and found out that there were severe fractures on the skull of the deceased. It was suspected that a murder case was involved, thus the crime scene investigation mechanism for serious case was activated. According to the opinion of the forensic doctor, the deceased was killed by intracranial injury caused by repeated strikes on the head by a hard object. However, no crime tool was yet to be found at the scene, and the scene had been cleaned by someone.
The personnel of the Section for Offences against Persons of the Judiciary Police carried out in-depth investigation and evidence collection, discovering that the deceased rented the involved room in the middle of February 2023 to provide massage and prostitution services. On the evening of March 10th , a man carrying a hand-held bag entered the guesthouse. About half an hour later, the man left in another outfit, carrying the above-mentioned hand-held bag and a suitcase suspected to be holding a pillow inside. Subsequently, he wandered around different districts in Macao, briefly entering several buildings in between, and changed clothes to evade detection. After expanding the area of investigation, criminal investigators found the above-mentioned pillow at a debris corner of a building in the Central District.
Due to the seriousness of the case, the Judiciary Police immediately mobilised personnel from several units to carry out joint operation and collaboration. Criminal investigators sorted out a large amount of information and evidence gathered from investigation and swiftly identified the whereabouts of the involved man. The involved man from Hong Kong was intercepted at ZAPE on the evening of the same day.
The involved man confessed that he entered Macao in March 2022, and had been sleeping in deserted shopping malls or parks. On the day of the incident, he had a sexual transaction with the deceased. Meanwhile, he was verbally insulted and thus used a hard object to heavily strike the head of the deceased, took away her mobile phone, suitcase and pillow before leaving the guesthouse.
During investigation, the Judiciary Police obtained important information through technical investigation, integrating investigation evidence and criminal forensic results. There were strong signs indicating that the involved man killed the deceased. Therefore, the Judiciary Police transferred him to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offences of aggravated murder and theft, while continuing to follow up with the investigation.
Durante a investigação, a PJ obteve informações importantes usando várias tecnologias. A PJ continua a acompanhar o caso.
