Local man and woman arrested for involving in fraud and falsification of documents

In January 2018, the Judiciary Police received a report from a woman, stating that her mother’s apartment in the Iao Hon district had been sold by someone who processed a letter of authority with a forged Hong Kong ID card .

Investigation was launched after the report.  Having impersonated the property owner and forged a Hong Kong resident ID card, an involved individual was found to process the letter of authority at a law firm, so as to authorize the involved woman in this case the sale and purchase of the apartment.  The involved woman then sold the apartment to another party for HKD1,800,000 through the involved man’s real estate agency.  The involved woman was living with a man in an apartment in Taipa, inside which multiple property registration certificates, copies of public deed of purchase and sale of property, letters of authority, etc. were seized by the personnel of the Judiciary Police when a search was performed.  Although the cohabited man has not yet been found to have taken part in this case, he was wanted by the court and had been sentenced to imprisonment, thus he was sent to the Coloane prison for further handling.

After investigation, there were compelling indications showing that the involved man and woman were involved in offences of fraud (with considerably massive amount) and falsification of documents of special value, as a result, they were sent to the Public Prosecutions Office.  The Judiciary Police continue to pursue the rest of the involved individuals and investigate whether the involved documents were involved in any other illegal selling and purchasing activities of other properties.
