Anti-crime patrol operation – intercepting 11 persons engaging in prostitution
To uphold Macao’s law and order, the Organized Crime Division of the Judiciary Police mobilized criminal investigators in an anti-crime patrol operation from 2nd to 12th March 2024.
During the days of operation, the Judiciary Police intercepted a total of 13 mainland Chinese women in ZAPE, 11 of whom were suspected of engaging in prostitution, one in illegal massaging and another in illegal currency exchange activity (so-called “money exchange gang”), thus taking them in for further investigation.
Upon identification and investigative procedures, none of the said 13 mainland Chinese women were found involved in other criminal offences. However, in view of their engagement in activities apparently inconsistent with the permitted purpose of stay in Macao, they were transferred to the Border Control Department of the Public Security Police Force for handling in accordance with the stipulations of Law No. 16/2021.
