Taiwanese man arrested for smuggling liquid cocaine
To prevent and combat cross-border drug trafficking activities, the Narcotics Division of the Macao Judiciary Police and the Narcotics Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force had been conducting regular intelligence exchanges. After analysing the flight and passenger information arriving in Macao, a man from Chinese Taiwan region who flew from Chinese Taiwan to Macao on December 7th was found suspicious, he was thus intercepted at the Macao International Airport after deployment was conducted.
The personnel of the Judiciary Police seized eight bottles, each of 1.5 liters of red-wine like liquid in the luggage of the involved man. After conducting an urgent examination, the Forensic Science Department of the Judiciary Police confirmed that it was liquid cocaine, which could be made into around 4 kilograms of solid cocaine with a worth of about MOP 13.2 million if refined.
The involved man admitted that he was recruited to receive the above-mentioned eight bottles of liquid cocaine disguised as red wine in a hotel in the United States. He then flew to Macao via Chinese Taiwan and waited for further instructions. He claimed that he had already received a reward of TWD40,000, and would get another TWD50,000 if successful.
The Judiciary Police transferred the involved man to the Public Prosecutions Office with the charge of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, while continuing to trace the origin and flow of the drugs as well as the remaining involved persons.
