Theft from helmet case busted with a Macao recidivist nabbed
On 26th October 2023, a Macao woman lodged a complaint with the Judiciary Police, indicating that someone had stolen her purse which had been placed inside her scooter helmet case, incurring a loss of approximately MOP30,000 in total.
Case details revealed that, on the afternoon of the same day, the victim had her scooter parked in the ZAPE district. After placing her purse inside the helmet case, she locked it up and went away. When she went to get her scooter an hour later, she found that the purse (containing around MOP30,000 and her identity card) inside the helmet case had been stolen.
Upon investigation by the personnel of the Section for Offences against Property, an involved Macao man was identified. It was also found from investigation that he was a theft recidivist and was involved in two other cases of car burglaries this year. In addition, he was subject to a mandatory measure of regular reporting imposed by the judicial authority.
On November 8th, while being present at the Judiciary Police for regular reporting, he was interrogated by the personnel of the Judiciary Police regarding this case. He denied that he had committed the crime. Yet, upon comprehensive investigation by the Judiciary Police, there were strong indications showing that the involved man had been involved in this case. Thus, he was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of aggravated theft.
