Judiciary Police cracked body-cavity concealment of drug case, with a Brazilian man arrested for cocaine smuggling
The Narcotics Division of the Judiciary Police received intelligence, indicating that international drug trafficking syndicates have recently recruited people of different ethnicities to smuggle drugs from Europe to Macao by means of body-cavity concealment, hence adjusted police strategies and stepped up efforts to carry out accurate screening on the passengers of inbound flights, and found that there was a suspicious Brazilian male passenger on a flight from Europe to Macao via Singapore on the afternoon of 30th October 2023. Deployments were immediately made to intercept the involved man when he was entering Macao through the Macau International Airport.
The Judiciary Police personnel searched the involved man’s baggage and examined him with the human body scanning x-ray machine, who was found to have a number of oval-shaped objects concealed in his body. As such, he was sent to the Conde S. Januário General Hospital for further examination, during which the involved man excreted 89 oval-shaped objects, which were confirmed to be cocaine weighing a total of 933.6 grams and worth approximately MOP3.08 million, after an emergency test conducted by the Forensic Science Department of the Judiciary Police.
After investigation, the involved man admitted that he had been solicited by someone to swallow the batch of drugs in Paris, France on October 29th. He subsequently flew to Macao via Singapore to await further instructions, claiming that he would be rewarded with BRL10,000 and USD900 (equivalent to approximately MOP23,500) after the task was completed.
The Judiciary Police transferred the involved man to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, while continuing to pursue the origin of the drugs and other involved individuals.
