Anti-crime patrol operation – patrolling hotels and their peripheries in Cotai district
As the Mid-autumn Festival and the Chinese National Day long holidays are approaching, the Organized Crime Division of the Judiciary Police deployed 10 criminal investigators to carry out anti-crime operation at the Cotai district on 27th September 2023, in order to purify the security environment of Macao.
During the operation, the Judiciary Police personnel intercepted eight mainland women suspected of prostitution in a Cotai resort hotel and its peripheral area. Items used for prostitution were also found in the hotel rooms where the involved women were staying. They all admitted that they had come to Macao respectively to engage in prostitution earlier, charging a fee ranging from 750 to 1500 patacas for each sexual transaction.
The Judiciary Police found that none of the eight mainland women were involved in any criminal offences. However, since they were engaged in activities obviously inconsistent with the permitted purpose of visit in Macao, they were transferred to the Border Control Department of the Public Security Police Force for handling in accordance with the relevant provisions of Law No. 16/2021.
