Indonesian woman arrested for trafficking and taking drugs
Subsequent to intelligence exchange with the Customs and Excise Department of Hong Kong SAR at an earlier time, the Macao Judiciary Police noticed that a parcel suspected to be concealed with the drug “ice” was being sent from abroad to Macao via Hong Kong. A joint deployment was launched forthwith.
On the morning of 20th August 2021, the Judiciary Police personnel intercepted an involved Indonesian woman swiftly after she had collected the involved parcel in Central district of Macao, who was then brought back to the Bureau for investigation. Approximately 663 grams of “ice”, worth of around MOP2.2 million, were seized from two sets of book packaging boxes inside the involved parcel. Afterwards, drug taking utensils and over MOP60,000 suspected drug proceeds were also seized inside the involved woman’s residence.
The involved woman admitted to her “ice” taking habit, and confessed that she was instructed by an African man to assist in collecting the drug parcel. Her urine test yielded a positive result for drugs. The Judiciary Police transferred the involved woman to the Public Prosecutions Office with three charges including illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, improper possession of utensils or equipment and illegal consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, while pursuing the origin of the drugs and other involved persons.
