Five persons arrested and seized in the crackdown of a syndicate of illegal migration facilitation
The Judiciary Police earlier busted a case of facilitation of illegal migration into and out of Macao by swimming, arresting two Vietnamese syndicate members. Follow-up investigation into the case revealed that the syndicate was about to organize illegal migration activities again to facilitate the illegal departure of two Vietnamese. Deployment was promptly made.
In the late hours of 27th June 2021, a male Vietnamese member of the syndicate was smuggling two Vietnamese men out of Macao along the coast of a local university campus. The Judiciary Police instantly intercepted the trio, seizing a bundle of long thick multi-knotted rope used to facilitate the up/down climbing of the illegal migrants for them to overcome the high embankments. Two female Vietnamese members responsible for making contacts, receiving fees and recruiting would-be illegal migrants were later intercepted in San Kio and Areia Preta districts.
Integrated investigative findings indicated that the syndicate had charged each illegal migrant RMB 12,000 each time. It was believed that the syndicate had been dismantled in this operation. The Judiciary Police transferred the three members of the syndicate of illegal migration facilitation to the Public Prosecutions Office, along with the two intercepted illegal migrants, for the charges of criminal syndicate and sheltering respectively.
A Polícia Judiciária preparou as operações.
