Local man arrested for fraud of considerably huge amount and document falsification
A mainland Chinese woman reported to the Judiciary Police on 20th January 2021 that in February 2020, a local man could allegedly offer job placement for mainlanders to work in construction sites in Macao, provided that the latter paid a service charge of RMB 5,000 each and submitted their mainland Chinese resident identity card for permit application. The unsuspecting mainland woman handed service charges totaling RMB 190,000 and application documents for 38 workers to the involved man by transfer, in person or by mail between February and July that same year. Not until January this year when none of the said workers were successfully hired with the involved man’s assistance did the female victim suspect of fraud and report to the Judiciary Police.
Upon investigation, the Judiciary Police identified a local man, who was intercepted upon his entry via Portas do Cerco on May 24th this year. He admitted to have purchased online a customized stamp of a bogus company for perpetration, after which the stamp had been disposed of in a trash can in mainland China. All of the fraud proceeds had been gambled away.
The Judiciary Police transferred the involved man to the Public Prosecutions Office for the charges of fraud (considerably huge amount) and document falsification.
