Two men arrested for fraud
In early March 2021, a mainland man got acquainted with a male host from China Taiwan when gambling in Macao. The host, who offered to assist the victim and five mainland residents in the business visa application for coming to Macao, collected HKD 409,000 as procedure fee. The involved male host then handed part of the amount to another Macao male host manager for assistance in the procedure. Until the end of the month, the male victim found that the involved male host had not finished the application procedure yet and requested a refund, but the male host only refunded HKD 127,000. The male victim suspected of being defrauded thus immediately reported the case to the police for assistance, claiming that a loss of HKD 282,000 was incurred.
The Judiciary Police investigated the two involved men. The Macao male host admitted that he did not apply for a visa for the male victim after receiving the amount, and part of which had already been gambled away. The two involved men were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of fraud (considerably huge amount).
