Hong Kong man arrested for aggravated theft
On 9th March 2021, the Judiciary Police received a report from the owner of an automotive model store at the San Kio district, indicating that the model store had ceased operation for three years, but it was still stocked with a lot of merchandise, and the owner organized the members to carry out appreciation activities inside the store from time to time. However, a number of model cars and spare parts were lost successively between January and March 2021, valued at around MOP92,000 and were suspected to have been stolen.
Having checked the surveillance footage from the scene and surrounding areas, the Judiciary Police personnel found that an involved man had opened the door of the store with a key and sneaked in to commit the crime while it was closed, and subsequently fled Macao.
On 29th March 2021, the involved man was intercepted upon his entry into Macao via the Border Gate checkpoint, who confessed that he had borrowed the key to the store from different members of the model store on several occasions, and burglarized the store several times in the wee hours. Some of the booty had been sold and the proceeds were spent all up, while the unsold booty was seized at his residence.
The Judiciary Police transferred the involved man to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of aggravated theft.
