Mainland Chinese man arrested for home burglary
The Judiciary Police was notified of a burglary case in a residence on Estrada da Penha on 7th January 2021. The female victim reported that the safe box in her bedroom had been damaged, resulting in the loss of three watches, jewellery and cash that totaled around MOP 714,500.
Having looked into the footages of the surveillance cameras near the involved residence, as well as inspecting the surrounding hillside and bushes, the Judiciary Police found that a man had climbed and broken into the residence by sliding down a nearby lamppost from the retaining wall on the opposite side. After the successful burglary, he then climbed up the retaining wall, found his way out to Avenida da República along the trail, and promptly fled to mainland China via Portas do Cerco. Based on the signs of damage, the Judiciary Police ascertained that the safe box had been wrecked with a power drill. Shoeprints left by the involved person while climbing on the outer wall of the involved residence were extracted, and a training shoe seized on the hillside near the residence. Comparative analysis revealed that the outsole pattern matched with the shoeprints collected on the outer wall of the involved residence. When the involved man entered Macao again via Portas do Cerco on 22nd March 2021, the Judiciary Police intercepted him, seizing suspected crime tools such as drill bits, shoes, gloves, a balaclava, a wig, etc. from him. The Judiciary Police transferred him to the Public Prosecutions Office for the charge of aggravated theft, while tracing the whereabouts of the stolen proceeds.
