Man and woman arrested for sham marriage
The Judiciary Police received a report in October 2020, indicating that a mainland man had fraudulently married a local woman so as to obtain the right of abode in Macao.
Subsequent to investigation and analyses, the Judiciary Police found out that the involved duo got married in 2015 while in August 2020, the involved woman filed for reunion in Macao with the involved man and his three daughters, with Macao non-permanent resident identity cards acquired. On 17th March 2021, the Judiciary Police personnel brought the involved duo back to the Bureau from their residence for investigation. The lifestyles as stated by the duo differed, and they failed to describe the same anecdotes of life, which strongly indicated a bogus marriage between the two. As such, the Judiciary Police transferred the two to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of falsification of documents of special value combined with the offence of falsification of documents stipulated in Law No. 6/2004 “Illegal Entry, Illegal Stay and Deportation”.
