Local man arrested for theft
During a stock check of a duty-free shop in a Cotai hotel on 23rd November 2020, it was discovered that several bottles of fine wine had been stolen. Checking the in-store surveillance camera footage, the person-in-charge of the shop found that it was an inside job by a male employee, thus taking the latter to file a complaint at the Judiciary Police, where he reported a loss of around MOP 234,700. The involved man admitted to have repeatedly entered the warehouse to steal fine wines while on solo duty since June 2020 to repay his debts. He had taken the wines home after work and sold them online. All MOP 120,000 of criminal proceeds had been used for repaying his debts. The Judiciary Police transferred him to the Public Prosecutions Office for the charge of aggravated theft, while tracing the whereabouts of the stolen goods.
