The headquarters of this law enforcement agency at Rua Central operates 24 hours a day, although its main entrance is closed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. During this period of time, the public is cared for by our duty-officers, who are posted in our Standby Unit to provide a round-the-clock service. 	Ranking as a department within the framework of the Judiciary Police, the Service Provider and Complaints Center is under direct supervision of the Board of Directors. All suggestions and complaints made by the public are submitted, directly, to the Board of Directors. This body holds the sole authority to make assessments of such suggestions and complaints. This practice was adopted to keep in absolute confidentiality the information and complaints that the Board handles, and allows it to take swift measures to discipline our staff members who are in breach of the laws. 	The Police-Community Relations Research Group is a unit under the Human Resources, Reception and Public Relations Division, and directly held accountable to the director. Committed to facilitate police-community interactions, this research unit aims to boost the rule of law among the public and improve enforcement efficiency. The group seeks to pool extensive information on community policing and give problem assessment. In return, it provides basic legal consultation and promotes legal awareness in the public. On top of these, the group also furnishes the directorate decision references with timely reports and recommendations aimed at meliorating community-police relations. Endeavored to induce positive interactions, this research group, in line with law, strives to bring the best out in community engagement for better delivery of police services, and to solidify the belief of social order and community governance. 	The Youth Support Center was established in February 2000, and is manned with coordinators, deputy coordinators of criminal investigation and investigators of the Judiciary Police. Its duties are: to study the characteristics of juvenile delinquency in Macao, and work out adequate responses; to communicate and work together with the youth community through their schools and associations, and coach them to be law abiding citizens and to show them the right concept of life; and to ensure that they distance themselves from criminal activities. The differences between the good and the evil are also taught.
