IT and Telecommunications Coordination Department

    The IT and Telecommunications Coordination Department is responsible for analyzing, coordinating, assessing, defining and executing all necessary IT and telecommunications system plans required by the Judiciary Police in carrying out its duties, as well as studying from IT and telecommunications point of view, specific technology to prevent and suppress crimes. The Department is also responsible for designing, installing and maintaining all related equipment, and providing technical assistance to Computer Forensic Division on investigations of highly technological crimes.


Information Technology Division

    The Information Technology Division is subordinate to the IT and Telecommunications Coordination Department and is responsible for designing, installing, implementing and maintaining the most suitable automated and computerized IT processing systems so as to facilitate a rationalized information channel and the duties of the Judiciary Police, as well as ensuring safe and smooth operations of the systems. This Division constantly inspects and evaluates the IT systems to ensure the quality of such IT facilities and application programs to make sure these facilities fulfill the overall objectives of the Judiciary Police and the specific objectives of the subsidiary units. This Division also maintains the communications between the Judiciary Police and other security departments and related institutions, and cooperates with the IT centres of other public organizations and entities of the Macao SAR to enhance compatibility of methods used to process information technology.

Telecommunications Division

    The Telecommunications Division is subordinate to the IT and Telecommunications Coordination Department. Its main duty is to assist the higher level from the aspect of telecommunications to study the expertise in preventing and combating crimes. It uses telecommunication technology to evaluate and analyze current situation and trend of high-tech crimes, explores strategies for crime prevention, and assists investigation departments in areas of investigation via scientific ways and equipment.
    For internal operations, the Telecommunications Division participates in the management of the Judiciary Police overall telecommunication facilities which include designing, installing, operating, and maintaining telecommunication systems and electronic equipment, and their safety, as well as providing technical support. The Division is also responsible for researching, evaluating, promoting suggestions and purchasing telecommunication facilities so as to cope with modernization of such facilities. On the other hand, the Telecommunications Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of high-tech investigation facilities and maintaining contact with the Bureau of Telecommunications Regulation, all telecommunications network providers, security departments or similar institutions.

Computer Forensic Division

    The Computer Forensic Division is subordinate to the IT and Telecommunications Coordination Department, possessing independence on technology and is responsible for assisting from the area of information technology the investigation of IT and high-tech related crimes; gathering, inspecting and analyzing crime-related electronic evidence from computer systems and databases and presenting it to the court. The Division is also responsible to study on how to prevent the rising trend of information and high-tech crimes from the perspective of information technology.
