Are your windows and doors properly locked?
Stop burglary

Iron gates are widely used in Macao's housing and the Judiciary Police has the following advice for residents:
- Fit a sturdy deadlock on your door.
- Fix a shield over the deadlock.
- Always lock your doors behind you.
- Attach an anti-burglary lock on the bolt before going to sleep.
- Fit your windows with sturdy metal bars.
- Fit anti-theft sensors in your front door and balcony if possible.
- Regularly check if the sensors are working properly.
- Always lock the front gate of your building, especially those buildings without security    guards.
- Always be alert in the case of sudden blackout or water suspension to avoid robbers    hiding outside.
- Immediately have your deadlock changed when keys are lost.
- Remember to stop all the deliveries of newspapers, magazines and milk until you    return from holiday. Ask your relatives, friends or neighbours to check your mailbox    regularly so it leaves no sign of your absence.

If your house has been broken into

Remember to:

  1. Stay calm.
  2. Ensure your own safety comes first.
  3. Report to us immediately.
  • Do not act on impulse whilst burglars are inside your house.
  • Leave the crime scene as it is. Do not attempt to count the amount of property robbed or move anything in the house.
